Veterinary Medicine and Medicinal Plants

 hazaveh.jpgWorkshop:       December 4, 2012

Lead presenter:  Saied G. Hazaveh, DMV.

This workshop  introduces  successful treatment of  diseases in variety of animal species using medicinal   plants or natural products.  The present experimental   knowledge on efficacy of application of these products documents feasible and sustainable approaches in care  of aquatic and farm animals.  Medicinal plants and   natural products (i.e. Essential Oils) have been used as feed additives in fishery and poultry industries. The present innovative approach eliminates risk of side effects in subjects under care and reduces concern about residual chemicals in farm products.

Workshop:          December 5, 2012

 Lead presenter:    Nazim Mamedov, PhD

Essential oils with anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antifungal, astringent, diuretic, expectorant, sedative and stimulant properties have been used by the therapists.  Majority of essential oils are well known and 10 to 15 percent of them are considered hazardous to health if not used properly. Many researchers documented that fragrances can create “an environmentally induced positive effect”. Participants at this workshop will learn about Aromatherapy, use of essential oils and recent scientific understanding of healing effects and the chemical aspect of these treatments.
